On Saturday, November 23, at the Kraków airport, Mr. Mateusz was welcomed, who returned from his honeymoon to Tokyo with his wife. Mr. Mateusz is the 10 millionth passenger served by Kraków Airport this year. The guest was officially welcomed by the airport management, city and province authorities, and invited guests. The event was also an opportunity for the Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Dariusz Klimczak, and the President of Kraków Airport, Mr. Łukasz Strutyński, to present the airport's development plans for the coming years.
Airport modernization
The second largest airport in the country requires continuous development. In the coming years, key investments will include the modernization of the runways and the passenger terminal, so that it can handle up to 15 million passengers per year. The works are planned for the next six years. As reported by the Minister of Infrastructure, PLN 3 billion has been secured for this purpose.
Another record year
Kraków Airport the largest regional airport in Poland, was the first to achieve such a result in passenger service. The President of Kraków Airport added that the airport should close 2024 with over 11 million passengers served. For comparison, 9.4 million passengers were served in 2023. These results were better than in the record year until the pandemic, 2019, when the airport served over 8.4 million passengers.
