Kraków, the only Polish city included in the latest “50 Best Cities in the World for 2026” ranking prepared by the British service Time Out, achieved an impressive 16th place in the global list.
The ranking was based on a survey conducted among over 24,000 residents of cities around the world, as well as the opinions of editors and more than 100 experts collaborating with Time Out. The assessment covered aspects of city life such as gastronomy, culture, and access to green areas — all indicators of a city’s attractiveness for both residents and tourists. Melbourne took first place in the ranking, while Edinburgh and London represented Europe at the top of the list.
Kraków placed 16th, ahead of cities such as Porto, Madrid, and Valencia. According to the creators of the ranking, the capital of Małopolska stands out for its rich history, culture, charming districts, and vibrant urban life.
The city is also known for its well-preserved architecture, numerous cultural events — including the Great Parade of Dragons and the Christmas Market — as well as its acclaimed gastronomy, from local street food in Kazimierz to the only restaurant in Poland awarded two Michelin stars.
