On May 27, Kraków became the culinary capital of Poland as it hosted the first-ever national selection of the Michelin Guide for the country. During the official MICHELIN Guide gala, held at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre, the list of restaurants awarded prestigious Michelin stars, Bib Gourmand distinctions, and inspector recommendations for venues across Poland was announced.
This year’s edition of the guide, for the first time, covered the entire country, marking a particularly important milestone for the Polish culinary scene. Since 2023, Polish restaurants have been able to compete for inclusion in this elite ranking, but until now the selection had been limited to selected regions: Lesser Poland, Mazovia, and Greater Poland, followed in later years by Pomerania and Lower Silesia. Thanks to the consistent efforts of the Polish Tourism Organisation, this year’s edition includes establishments representing all parts of the country, significantly strengthening Poland’s position on Europe’s culinary map.
For the first time, the Michelin Guide Poland 2026 Gala was also held in Kraków. This event clearly signals that the city is consistently and effectively building its brand as one of Poland’s leading culinary tourism destinations, reinforcing its status among centers with the highest gastronomic standards.
The latest edition of the famous red guide features 196 restaurants, of which 10 received MICHELIN stars and 19 were awarded new Bib Gourmand distinctions. The only restaurant in Poland holding two MICHELIN stars remains Kraków’s Bottiglieria 1881, which has retained this prestigious title for the fourth consecutive year, confirming its exceptional position in Polish gastronomy.
Special recognition also goes to Ida Malec from Kraków’s Nat Bistro, who received the Young Chef Award. The jury appreciated her culinary maturity and the impressive success she has achieved early in her career, making her one of the most promising young chefs in Poland.
