Shanghai Ranking: 10 Polish universities among the best 1000

The oldest university in Poland – Jagiellonian University – and the University of Warsaw are two schools which were again among the leading institutions in the ranks of the best universities in the world, in the top five hundred schools. The AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, on the other hand, once again ranked in the top eight hundred.

The Shanghai Ranking – ‘Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU)’ – has been published yearly since 2003. It is prepared by the Jiao Tong University in Shanghai. Traditionally, Harvard University in the United States has been the top university in the world, with Stanford University ranking second. The University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom placed third.

The specific rank is given only in the case of the first 100 best universities in the world. Others are listed in approximate positions – universities appear in groups of 50 or 100 units. Eight Polish universities were included in the list last year, including two more.
