The results of the green spaces ranking were based on the opinions of 24,000 residents from 150 cities worldwide. The assessment considered, among other factors, the availability and quality of parks as well as their impact on everyday life. The findings were translated into the so-called Green Spaces Score. Kraków achieved a very high result, with 82% positive ratings, highlighting the growing importance of greenery in the urban environment.

An extensive network of parks, squares and walking areas, along with the popular Vistula river boulevards, creates a system of spaces conducive to recreation and physical activity. Such areas not only enhance the city’s visual appeal, but also have a positive impact on residents’ health and well-being.

In the Time Out ranking, Kraków was also praised for its diversity and atmosphere. Attention was drawn to the city’s vibrant cultural life, attractive culinary scene and pedestrian-friendly urban layout, which makes moving around the city easy and enjoyable. Access to green spaces was identified as one of the key elements contributing to this positive assessment. Recreational areas serve as an important complement to urban infrastructure, supporting everyday relaxation, social integration and an active lifestyle.

Kraków’s presence in international rankings demonstrates that efforts to develop green infrastructure are delivering tangible results. At the same time, they set the direction for further actions, such as increasing the area of green spaces, protecting biodiversity and adapting the city to climate challenges. Investments in urban greenery and care for the quality of public spaces strengthen the city’s resilience and enhance the quality of life for its residents.
