Kraków to Host the Prestigious URSI GASS 2026 Scientific Congress

From August 15 to 22, 2026, the ICE Kraków Congress Centre will host the 36th General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI GASS 2026)—an organization with a tradition spanning more than one hundred years. This is one of the world’s largest scientific events dedicated to research on electromagnetic waves and their applications in communication, electronics, medicine, radio astronomy, and many other fields. Poland last hosted this event in 1972.

More than 1,500 scientists from over 60 countries will come to Kraków, including numerous internationally renowned experts. The opening keynote lecture, devoted to the discovery of exoplanets, will be delivered by the eminent Polish radio astronomer Professor Aleksander Wolszczan.

Over the course of eight days, the congress will feature nearly 100 thematic sessions, as well as networking and cultural events, including a Chopin piano recital and a performance by a folk song and dance ensemble.

The event is organized by the Polish National Committee of the International Union of Radio Science, operating under the auspices of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The strategic partner of the event is WB Group.
