11th Conference of the European Foundation for Plant Pathology

After the two preceding EFPP conferences — Evora (Portugal 2010) and Wageningen (The Netherlands 2012) — dealing with integrated plant disease management (IPM) the organizing committee has chosen Healthy plants — healthy people for the theme of the Kraków conference. This seemed a natural continuation of IPM issue, as the system will be obligatory since 1st January 2014 in all EU countries as a standard. The widespread implementation of IPM will result in a reduction of environmental pollution with chemicals and increase food security which will have its impact on human health and quality of life. Therefore, scientific contributions are expected to cover a variety of interdisciplinary topics ranging from recent progress in integrated management of major diseases of food crops, forests and ornamentals to more specific topics, emphasizing:
New pathogens and shifts in pathogenicity
Toxic metabolites of pathogens
Pathogen identification and monitoring
Genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics Environmental effect on plant diseases
Diseases of trees in forest and recreation sites
Plant disease management
Plant disease resistance
Kraków conference will be a good forum to present results of research, exchange ideas and share experience, so as to facilitate establishing further working partnerships and friendships.
