News from Kraków

The “Organizacja Turystyczna Stołecznego Królewskiego Miasta Krakowa” association (“Tourist Organisation of the Royal Capital City of Krakow”), with its headquarters at ul. Bracka 1, was registered with the National Court Register on 13 October 2023, and thus Krakow has gained a partner for implementing a sustainable tourism policy.

22 new Honorary Ambassadors of Polish Congresses were named by the Chapter of the Programme in October.

As every year, in cooperation with city and regional convention bureaux, recommended organizers of congresses and incentive travel, as well as international organizations and associations, the Poland Convention Bureau of the Polish Tourist Organization (PCB PTO) has produced a report on the “Meetings and Events Industry in Poland 2023”, a summary of the achievements of the meetings industry in 2022.

At the moment, ICE Krakow has its “Sustainability Policy”, devised in collaboration with representatives of the meetings industry in Krakow. This policy provides for good practices, tips and solutions for congress or concert organizers. Now it is time for it to devise its own ESG policy. An expert on the subject, the Carbon Footprint Foundation, will help to achieve this. A letter of intent was signed at Cricoteka during the Carbon Footprint Summit 2023, marking the beginning of work on the document.

The 25^th International Book Fair in Krakow® has been nominated for the 21^st 2023 Golden Paperclips  awards! From a record 482 submissions, the jury selected 108 nominees in 35 categories.

On 5–8 October, we had the great pleasure of hosting congress, conference and incentive travel organizers from Norway, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary and the Netherlands.

On 2 October, representatives of the city, the region, Krakow Airport and the Malopolska Tourist Organization summed up the holiday season and passenger traffic at Krakow Airport. The event was held as part of the “Cooperation – Innovation – Sustainable Tourism” conference. This year's tourism data confirms that tourism is one of the strategic branches of development in this part of Poland.

There was an abundance of exciting events this September at the International Exhibition and Convention Center EXPO Krakow, with tens of thousands of participants overall, including entrepreneurs looking for new solutions for their companies, automotive enthusiasts, and visitors who came to learn about new design solutions.

The Eastern European Eating Disorder Network (EEEDN), will organize second international conference on most recent topics of eating disorders. This year conference will be held in Krakow on October 28-30 with a special focus on psychological issues in times of global uncertainty.

The results offer insights into the trends and the progress of global destinations' commitment to transforming their social, environmental, supplier, and destination management offerings.

The “Wide open” campaign is underway –  a joint venture between the City of Krakow, Małopolska, and the Małopolska Tourist Organisation, under the “Małopolska - travel destination” project. Its main goal is to rebuild tourism in Krakow and Małopolska after the pandemic. At what stage are the activities related to the promotion of business tourism? What else is ahead?
