Drink tap water in Krakow

The water in Krakow’s taps is commonly available, environmentally friendly, and much cheaper than bottled water. And most importantly, it is of high quality and is continuously monitored.

Environmentally-friendly and practical solution

Tap water is the perfect option for events – it looks good served in glass jugs and eliminates the use of single-use plastic. Additional dispensers in the conference area encourage users to refill the bottles.

High-quality tap water

The water in Krakow’s taps is clean and healthy, and it has more than 300 mg of minerals in every litre, including bioelements such as calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium. Around 60% of the city’s residents already declare that they drink tap water.

The quality of the water is guaranteed by daily inspections and the latest disinfection technologies, including a UV disinfection system used, among others, in New York and Rotterdam.

Meeting these standards is confirmed by the fact that Krakow’s tap water was ranked second (after Singapore) in a ranking of drinking water quality conducted in 2016 in around a dozen countries by the European Benchmarking Cooperation (EBC).

Drinking fountains in urban space

For the convenience of residents and tourists, urban drinking fountains and water access points have been marked on Google maps, and can be useful when exploring the city ‘after hours’.

To quickly locate them, just type the phrase “pitnik miejski” (in Polish) in Google Maps.

There are currently 37 drinking fountains installed throughout the city.
