Given the ongoing climate crisis and the impact of the meetings industry on the environment, ICE Kraków is proud to announce its “Sustainable development policies”, developed over recent months. The document outlines examples of activities following the concepts of sustainable development aiming to eliminate its negative impact on the environment and local community and increase its positive influence.

With the pandemic bringing about strict health and safety measures, the nature of events has definitely changed. Now, very often organizers have no choice but to conduct the usual events via virtual platforms.

Kraków invites enthusiasts of mobile photography for free tours. The city inhabitants can see, have a peek, sometimes taste and record unique places, festive traditions, regional dishes and other peculiarities of Kraków while strolling around the city under the supervision of city guides. The guide to Kraków ’s most interesting Instagram locations will be the result of the activity. The action is organised as part of the Tourism Friendly Cities project, where Kraków acts as the partner under the URBACT III programme.

In March of the current year, KrakówCity Council adopted the “Sustainable Tourism Policy for Kraków in the Years 2021-2028”. The document aims to develop an optimum management model for tourism in Kraków after the decline caused by COVID-19. The city is facing up to the situation and working together with the entire industry in order to revive tourism.

Soon, we will be sitting down at the Christmas table. Kraków is also beginning preparations for this exceptional day of the year, this time also on social media. Popular social media channels will gather proposals from the Kraków catering industry for this special time, categorized under the #swiatecznykrakow hashtag.

Today’s hotels originated as inn houses, which developed at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. Inns, as they were referred to at that time, were located in the city centre and at market squares or the entrance gates to Kraków.

Digital Dragons, the key events in the games industry in Europe organised by the Kraków Technology Park, is back to the ICE Congress Centre in a new formula.

As with every year, in cooperation with the municipal and the regional convention bureaus, recommended organisers of congresses and motivational travels and international organisations and associations, PCB PTO developed the “Poland Meetings & Events Industry Report 2021”.

A touching event occurred at the International Mountain and Adventure Film Festival Bilbao Mendi in Spain. Alpinists from Navarra and Cracow, whose fates brought them together in 1976 during the expeditions to the seven-thousander Shakhaur (Hindukush) in Afghanistan.  The dramatic expedition through the mountains is the object of the documentary supported by the Department of Tourism Municipality of Kraków.

The participants of the Tourism Forum, held on 9 December, discussed Kraków’s tourist offer, promotional plans for the new season and hopes for the recovery of tourism in 2022. Due to the epidemic, the event could be attended on-line.
