TAURON Arena Krakow was named among the winners at TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2023 in the category Sustainability & Community, for the project titled “Children's Haven & Ukraine refugee support”.

The process of selecting establishments for the world-famous and respected Michelin Guide has now been completed. Based on verification and inspectors’ evaluations, three restaurants in Poland were awarded the prestigious “stars”, seven received the Bib Gourmand title, and no less than 39 were recommended. The Michelin plaque award ceremony will be held on 27 June in Poznan. Two stars were awarded to the Bottiglieria 1881 restaurant in Krakow.

For the past sixteen years, the Post Office Travel Money portal has compared the cost of short trips to cities across Europe, examining value for money, and the results have been presented in a ranking of places worth visiting. In this year’s survey, Krakow was ranked third.

This year – dressed in blue and white T-shirts and orange caps – City Helpers will welcome visitors to Krakow! To also ensure residents’ comfort, City Helpers’ working hours have been extended compared to the previous programmes of this kind. City Helpers will be available in the Old Town and Kazimierz until 31 August. During the weekends, they will work until 1 a.m.

At the Golden Arrow Awards Gala on 23 June, the Krakow Book Fair received an Honourable Mention in the Experiental marketing - Event marketing - off line category for its communication strategy for the 25th International Book Fair in Krakow®.

With more than 25 years of history, the EAS Annual Meeting is the largest conference of European Astronomy. The EAS 2023 will bring together over 1500 professional astronomers and will showcase the latest advancements in astronomy. Over the 5 days of the conference, the meeting will feature 15 two-day symposia, 30 one-day Special Sessions, plenary lectures, several EAS prize talks, community reports, opening and closing ceremonies, and social events. A stimulating environment for the exchange of ideas and views of astronomy and related technologies.

 

We are delighted to announce Kraków and Gdansk has been nominated for most Desirable City in Europe and Poland for the most Desirable Europe Country in the 2023 Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards.

The first business trips were associated with politics, diplomacy and trade. Since Krakow as a capital of Poland was a significant political scientific, cultural and commercial centre, the first traces of the development of business tourism can be found in the history of the city.

Medicine is closely associated with Krakow: this is where future doctors were educated. Maciej Miechowita, referred to as the Polish Hippocrates, worked in Krakow as a physician; a university hospital was established in 1780 on the initiative of Professor Andrzej Badurski, and the first departments and chairs in Poland were created in Krakow, such as, among others: the chair of anatomy, surgery and obstetrics, which starting in 1780 was headed by the ‘father of Polish surgery’, Professor Rafał Czerwiakowski, and by the founder of the first surgical clinic at ul. Kopernika 40, Professor Ludwik Rydygier.
