Krakow with prestigious Mission Label award
On May 7, at a ceremony in Vilnius, Krakow received the prestigious European Mission Label, which is awarded to cities that meet ambitious climate goals. This is the result of a positive opinion of Krakow's Climate Contract submitted to the European Commission.

Krakow, along with four other Polish cities, was awarded the Mission Label for meeting ambitious climate goals. The award ceremony took place in Vilnius, as part of the European Union's Climate Missions, which support cities on the road to climate neutrality.
The Mission Label was awarded to Krakow on the basis of a positive opinion of the city's Climate Contract, which was submitted to the European Commission in September 2024, a comprehensive document that sets out a plan for Krakow's transformation towards sustainability and climate neutrality.
Cities that have received such a positive opinion, in addition to the prestigious award, can count on support in implementing their contracts. This support includes assistance in removing legislative and procedural barriers, preparing investment projects and accessing domestic and international funds. In addition, these cities can count on expert advice and support within the NetZeroCities platform.
In addition to Krakow, Warsaw, Lodz, Wroclaw and Rzeszow have also received the Mission Label. These cities will implement projects that will improve the energy security of their residents, increase resilience to climate change and improve the quality of life by reducing emissions and supporting sustainable development.
Krakow was represented at the award ceremony in Vilnius by Krakow Mayor's Climate Plenipotentiary Ewa Całus and co-authors of the Krakow Climate Contract: Grzegorz Grzybczyk and Adam Stawiarski from the Cracow City Hall's Department of Environment, Climate and Air.
